Pre-Travelitis

I have been suffering from pre-travelitis today. It is a horrible condition that I would wish on no one. Fortunately, there is a cure. Start traveling.

Yes, it is that simple. Just get in your vehicle and leave. Don't worry about forgetting something (trust me, you will forget something anyway), don't worry about the weather (trust me, it is going to do what it is going to do and you aren't going to change it by checking it every 5 minutes). You get the idea...just go out the door and leave.

Unfortunately, for me that will not be happening soon enough. Now I say unfortunately for me but really the effects of pre-travelitis are highly contagious and it spreads easily from one person to another. Therefore, I am not alone in my agony. At least, perhaps, I can find some bit of comfort in that...no, no I can't. In fact, it seems to make my symptoms worse.

So what exactly is pre-travelitis and what are the symptoms? I will tell you but I will have to caution you that you might fall victim to the disease and I want to say, I am not responsible for any accidents which may or may not occur.

#1 Symptom -Appears before a major trip or vacation

#2 Symptom-Irritability (Though I'm not sure I have this-just because I got a little tiffed about the spilled grape juice on the blanket I've been knitting for 6 months.)

#3 Symptom Denial about having symptom #2

#4 Symptom Unusual amount of spills and dropping things (It has already spread to my daughter-see comment on #2)

#5 Symptom Inability to find the one thing you absolutely must have to complete something you just have to complete before leaving on your trip

Up to this point, I effectively denied that I had been struck by pre-travelitis but I knew when I couldn't find the only book I ever use to can peaches and I had to can peaches before I left...I knew I was infected. Really how could one book I use maybe twice a year just disappear? Yes, I had to can peaches today.

#6 Symptom Irrepressible urge to clean and do laundry (most likely driven by the desire to have clean clothes for the trip and to not have anyone else being stinky in the vehicle)

These are the main symptoms but as I said the cure is out there...this is based on years of research. So if you find you are suffering from pre-travelitis just put yourself and your packed luggage into your vehicle and leave. Don't look back. Just go.

I mean it-don't look back. If you do you'll see you forgot to put up the water hoses or you might all of a sudden get that sinking feeling that you forgot to lock the door or maybe you left the stove on...Just go.

If you go back in-you may never leave and if you don't leave-well then it's really serious and you might miss your vacation. lol

Hope all your vacations are pre-travelitis and post travelitis free...yep, there is post travelitis too. If vacations weren't so great I'd really have to think about just staying home.

I'll be on vacation-I think. Soon, I hope. I just have a few more loads of laundry to do and well the cabinets haven't been all cleaned out yet and oh...darn I forgot to weed the garden...
