Some of my favorite memories from my childhood involved the times I would ride my bike to a nearby river and watch the eagles. My first oil painting, that I painted while in high school, was a painting of an eagle majestically perched on a branch over a lake.
So when I went away to college and I heard the song "On Eagles Wings" for the first time it gave me great comfort.
Since that time, my sons have earned the rank of Eagle Scouts-a high honor.
This song, the college memories and accomplishments of my sons create a mental vision/picture (eagle) of being lifted up through the years, through the challenges to a hope in each new day. At times these and other things have inspired me to reach higher than I thought I could reach and to trust in God.
Here is another video with the same song but as a memorial to children who have gone before us to heaven.
What images/visions/songs/other inspire you or give you hope? If at all possible, take a minute or two today to seek out those things that inspire you.
May your day be filled with blessings!

For me, it's trees. Well, trees and water. I love them and have always felt at peace and creative when around them. As a kid, I spent a lot of time perched up on a branch of the tree at the far end of our property, usually with a notebook or a sketchbook in hand.
ReplyDeleteI love just lying back and watching the birds and the clouds, and enjoying the beauty of nature.
ReplyDeleteI love the majestic eagle, but I have to agree with WN about trees. Seeing them spring to life anew each year tells me that it's never over, we always bounce back.
ReplyDeleteI was a tree-climbing fool as a kid and would be still today if I had a good one to climb.
