For the last several days, it has rained and stormed. There have been tornadoes and flooding. Today, it felt strange but good to see the sunshine.
The trees have leafed out, flowers have bloomed, the grass has grown, the pond is full-it looks different but brighter and greener. The view is strange as if it is a mix between someplace I knew once and someplace new.
Even though the view is inviting, the sunshine a blessing, there is a sadness that comes with it. The sadness is for strangers who died in the storms, for their families, for those who lost homes and I embrace that sadness along with the sunshine. It is strange. They fuse together in a melancholy like emotion.
More than once over the last couple of months I have had people refer to the end times or say something to the effect of you know what the Bible says about strange times like these...yes, I do actually.
In return, I ask, "Are these times any stranger than a couple of years ago or a thousand years ago? Every day brings changes in the world and in our lives and we can see the end or new beginnings. We can hope for a future or hide in the past or in our fears. Sure we are getting closer to the end times with every day but the Bible says-Matt 25:13: “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
