Yesterday, one of our school books talked about laughter and humor and the different types of humor. Then it gave an assignment to try to make someone laugh. Within minutes, 2 of the 3 had made me and each other laugh.
One of my children, however, wasn't laughing. I take this personally. Well, after all, it was probably my fault-something to do with math and allergies. I wanted to make him laugh today...not just chuckle...laugh.
All day long, I tried various known to work previously laughter techniques; wit, sarcasm, jokes, etc. but the best I got was a smirk or a grin. This would not do, however, he was determined to hold it in.
Then it happened. I was distracted. I hate when that happens. As often happens, more than one person was talking to me at a time. My son wanted to know what was for supper? My daughter wanted to know where was the cat?
I just wanted to watch America's Got Talent...did you see that one guy-he really was a good example for the kids of how sometimes you have to play to your audience or you will come off, not funny.
Anyway, I was grabbing a light supper for myself and sitting down when the questions were thrown at me, so I answered back in the same way I usually do-quick and loud and hope they hear it style.
"I don't know...oh..there's the cat."
He laughed! Yes! And I wasn't even trying to make him laugh, I was just being myself.
Have a great day filled with laughter.

Question/Thought of the Day: Have you tried doing something that never seems to work, so you try harder or try a different technique? Perhaps, you need to just step back from the situation and be yourself. It's ok, to just be yourself.
Are you SURE your cat laughed? Okey-dokey then! thanks for your comment on my blog, too!
