Happy New Year! I know I'm a couple of days late but I'm ok with that if you are...
On the 1st day of the New Year many people make resolutions-some they keep, some they intend to keep and others well they make a good effort by at least speaking the words.
Generally, for me making and setting goals is an ongoing adventure. So even though it is no longer the 1st of January 2010 I am making goals and taking small steps towards keeping those goals.
I do want to say that making and setting goals can be different from making and setting resolutions.
This of course, is just my perspective.
Goals
-I write them down
Resolutions
-I speak them
Goals
-I create a plan of action
Resolutions
-I consider the thought for a few days and may even follow through with the idea
Goals
-I take small steps towards the bigger goal-make it attainable
Resolutions
-I think about how great it would be if I did something
Goals
-I make realistic, attainable goals
Resolutions
-The end result may not be realistic or attainable in the time frame (1 year)
I started this year celebrating with my family. I came home to regroup after the holidays. Now, I am ready to set some goals for my future and try to help my children focus on taking positive actions for their futures.
Over the years I have heard that it takes approximately a month to form a habit and I've read that if you apply yourself for 100 hours towards a project/goal you will be successful. With that in mind I am setting several 100 day goals and focusing on completing several small tasks every day. I will complete my tasks/goals.
One of those goals includes a new blog. I have already set it up. It is called The Virtual World Traveler.
I hope that this year will bring you closer to your goals.
God Bless and Peace!

I agree with you on the differences between goals and resolutions. I tend to make goals that coincide with the beginning of the school year and then update throughout the year. I do like the idea of a fresh start for the year, too. I always thought I was the most non-typical person when it comes to resolutions (not making them) and goal-setting. Maybe not. Thanks for the update!
